Get Involved with the NEW Drama Ministry

Ash Wednesday & Sundays of Lent On Wednesday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m., we will begin the season of Lent. During this service, and all the Sundays of Lent, our new drama ministry, ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) will present brief moments of drama during the Order of Service. Plan now to attend, and bring a friend!

Please contact William West, Artistic Director for Drama Ministry: Drama@StJohnChurch.net. for more information.

A.R.K.  (Acts of Random Kindness)
Schedule for Ash Wednesday, Lent, Passion Sunday (Palm), Maundy Thursday and Easter.

February 6 ASH WEDNESDAY: “Ashes to Ashes” by Bruce Murray
In a sort of church version of “The Twilight Zone” the narrator introduces us to the idea of God’s justice through the example of the plants that we grow. We meet Old Man Murray and Tyler too as the two teach each other about giving and receiving.

February 10, 1st Sunday of Lent: “God’s Busy” by Brad Kindall
Jeff attempts to explain to God why he’s been unable to spend time with Him in prayer, only to be put on hold by a heavenly receptionist.

February 17, 2nd Sunday of Lent: “Excuses, Excuses, Excuses” by Martha Bolton
What would happen if you skipped church worship one Sunday? While playing hooky that morning, you answer your door. Before you stands your worst nightmare: a television talk show host wanting to interview you live in front of thousands of viewers. The topic: “Why aren’t you in church?”

February 24, 3rd Sunday of Lent: “I’d Like to Exchange My Life” by Brad Kindall
Doreen is just sick of her life and comes to a “special” Customer Service counter to exchange it for a new one. The clerk has some “special” advice that requires some outside reading.

March 2, 4th Sunday of Lent: “Righteous Dudes” by William D. Wolfe and Sheryl J. Anderson
What would your church council do if they heard a rumor that the leaders of the youth ministry had a drug pusher at last week’s youth meeting? What if they told you that the youth shared the Good New of Jesus Christ to him that night? Just how far out on the edge would you go to serve those in need?

March 9, 5th Sunday of Lent: “Joy and Roy” by William D. Wolfe and Sheryl J.Anderson
Two young people who think they hate each other have to share the same seat on the church bus on the way to a spiritual retreat.

March 16, 6th Sunday of Lent (Palm Sunday): “The One-way Pray-er” by William D. Wolfe and Sheryl J. Anderson
A woman’s prayer is actually answered on the spot by the Almighty. But perhaps it was for more than she bargained. Giving is a tough issue to face, especially when it’s God that is speaking!

March 20, Maundy Thursday: Passion Reading: Matthew 26: 14 – 27:66
A dramatic reading of the Passion  by a Narrator, a Greek Chorus of 3, and with interaction between Jesus, Judas, Peter, and a Servant Girl.

March 23, Easter Sunday: Matthew 20: 1-18
The Easter liturgy is brought to you through a dramatic reading. The story includes a Narrator, Mary Magdalene, Peter, John, 2 Angels and Jesus.
